On a visit to Australia, John Barr came upon the idea of farming in metal garden beds. In 2012, he released the first garden beds made of metal in the USA at the time. The business has since experienced remarkable growth. John is a native of Austin, Texas. After years of work in local/state/federal offices, John culminated his public sector service as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the Comptroller of the State of Texas. Upon leaving the public sector and before founding his company, John worked in several private sector posts, including a business development role at BlueScope, the Australian steel giant. His company is one of several manufacturing enterprises in the Driftwood community located just outside of Austin. The business motto is "be your own farmer". Tens of thousands of micro farms using John's garden beds have been planted over the years and many thousands more are yet to be established.
